Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles is a film from Zhang Yimou, one of China’s most famous directors. The plot follows an older Japanese man who has not been close to his son since his wife died. When the man learns the son has been diagnosed with cancer, he travels to the son’s home in China on a quest for redemption.
Presented by the UO Confucius Institute for Global China Studies and cosponsored by the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, and the Asian Studies Program.
