Professor Mutlow teaches classes in areas of design, affordable housing, and interiors. Since 1989, he has been the Principal, John V. Mutlow, FAIA Architects, where he concentrates on the humanization of a series of affordable low cost housing projects and co-operative housing for farm workers, spatial explorations of single-family houses, neighborhood commercial area revitalization efforts, shopping center and intergenerational child care centers.  He serves as a Board Member at the Architectural Foundation, Los Angeles, and on the Editorial Board of LA Architect.  Additionally, Professor Mutlow is a fellow at the American Institute of Architects and a member of National Council, Architects Registration Board, Royal Institute of British Architects, and Architectural Association, London.
