MOE The Talent Cultivation Project of Taiwanese Literature, History and Art in Globalization is to promote international academic exchanges that enhance global awareness of Taiwan.
Project term: January 2007 to 31 December 2010
Objective: To fund short-term research in Taiwan for foreign research students or teams on Taiwanese studies.
Application date: Applications for 2008-2010 must be made from October 1 to November 20 of the previous year.
Funding criteria
1. Short-term research in Taiwan by foreign research students: Each school will fund no more than two students each
year, each with a maximum of NT$500,000 for tuition fees, round-trip tickets and daily expenses. The research
must be completed within one year (two-semester minimum).
2. Short-term research in Taiwan by foreign research teams: Each school will fund no more than 1 team each year, each month with a maximum of NT$400,000 for round-trip tickets, research fees, daily expenses and other necessities.
The research must be a continuous project, conducted in Taiwan , for one to three months.
Requirements
1. Schools must have established a double-degree scheme with leading foreign universities or academic research
institutions, or must have signed concrete international inter-collegiate cooperation agreements.
2.Domestic public and private academic research institutes.
3. Requirements of foreign research students and teams
-Foreign research students
-Students may not be ROC citizens
-PhD students specializing in Taiwanese literature, culture, language, anthropology, history or art who have enrolled or will enroll at a public or private university in Taiwan (i.e. schools applying for funding), or who have obtained exchange student status from a public or private university in Taiwan , may apply.
-Students who have not received scholarships from the budget of the ROC government, for 3+ months consecutively, may apply
-Documents confirming the academic achievements of students may be required.
Foreign research teams
-Categorized into professor teams and professor-student teams; teams must not contain more than four members. The professor to student ratio must not be greater than 1:1.
-Team members may include lecturers, assistant professors, associate professors, professors and students under their supervision; all must specialize in Taiwanese studies.
-Only teams that have never received scholarships within the budget of the ROC government at the same time may apply.
-Documents confirming the academic achievements of teams may be required .

(2) Photocopy of academic transcripts for master's and doctoral programs and a letter of recommendation from the
supervisor
(3) Summary of planned dissertation (including the year of research).
(4) Personal credits or research experience documentation
(5) Statements of background, objectives, methods and significance of the intended research project
(6) Statement of relevant relationship between the supervisor in Taiwan and the research project
(7) Statement of relevance between the research and concrete future achievements and development
(8) One to three published academic papers
(9) Letter of approval from the local supervisor at the Taiwanese school (institution)
4. Foreign research teams
(1) Schedule and summary of current research projects.
(2) List of recent publications and research experience of team members
(3) Statements of background, objectives, methods and significance of the intended research project
(4) Previous research showing relevance to intended research in Taiwan .
5. Budget estimates
(1) Applicants must detail budget requirements and specify amounts applied for and coordinate funds.
(2) Special funding items and standards are subject to MOE Funding Standards and Items.
