University of Nottingham RCUK Research Fellow - China, Globalisation & Civil Society (Deadline: May 5, 2009)

The School of Politics & International Relations is looking for fellowship applicants on China related topics.

Applications are invited for the above post in the School of Politics and International Relations.  The successful candidate will join the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice within the School.  The Centre brings together political theorists, specialists in global political economy, social movements and development.  Current collaborative projects include ‘Global Civil Society’; ‘Social Movements in the Developing World’; and ‘Theories of Justice and Injustice’.  The School is particularly interested in candidates whose research focus explores the relationship between economic development and the emergence and development of social movements and political activism in China.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2011, during which the person appointed will undertake a programme of research alongside limited teaching and administrative duties.  It is anticipated that they will be appointed to a permanent lectureship in the School from 1 January 2012, with a staged increase towards a normal teaching and administrative load.

Candidates should already have completed a doctorate, or be very close to doing so.  They should supply a brief outline (i.e. 2,000 words) of the research they intend to undertake with their application, together with an account of the dissemination and publishing strategy to be pursued.

Salary will be within the range £27,183 - £35,469 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience (salary can progress to £38,757 per annum, subject to performance).
